Paladone Fortnite Playing Cards for Poker, Rummy, Go Fish, Card Games, Officially Licensed Gaming Merchandise & Collecti — for gift shoppers

What it is

These are playing cards with pictures of cartoon people jumping out of flying buses instead of the traditional kings and queens that have served America well for generations. They're officially licensed, which means someone paid money for the right to put video game characters on perfectly good card stock. The cards allegedly work for poker, rummy, and go fish, though I question why you'd need special cards when a standard deck has been doing the job since before computers existed.

Perfect gift for...

A child or teenager who spends more time staring at screens than learning useful skills like woodworking or government inefficiency identification. Also suitable for adults who never grew out of caring about cartoon characters, though I'd recommend introducing them to actual hobbies instead. If you must enable this behavior, at least they'll be playing actual card games instead of pressing buttons on a glowing rectangle.

Is it worth it?

Without knowing the price, I can tell you that regular playing cards cost about three dollars and work exactly the same way these do. If the Fortnite branding adds more than a dollar to the cost, you're paying extra for marketing nonsense that adds zero functional value. Buy regular cards, teach proper poker, and let the kids learn that entertainment doesn't need branded characters dancing around like sugar-addled cartoon people.
